The four ways to book travel with Bitcoin
The travel industry is one of the most Bitcoin-friendly categories. There are direct-booking sites, Lightning-only specialists, processor routes for big brands, and gift card routes for the airlines that don't take BTC directly.
Airlines that take Bitcoin directly
- AirBaltic — Airline. Latvia/Europe.
- Delta Airlines — Airline (via gift cards). USA/Global.
- LOT Polish Airlines — Airline. Poland/Europe.
- Peach Aviation — Airline. Japan.
Travel booking sites (hotels + flights)
- Travala — Travel Booking. Global.
- CheapAir — Travel Booking. USA.
- Expedia — Travel Booking (hotels only). Global.
- Alternative Airlines — Flight Booking. Global.
- Bitcoin.travel — Travel Booking. Global.
- Destinia — Travel Booking. Spain/Global.
- Virgin Galactic — Space Travel. Global.
- Xeni — Travel Services. Global.
- Bitcoin Adventure Tours — Adventure Travel. Global.
- Hotels.com — Hotel Booking. Global.
- Contiki — Youth Travel. Global.

Gift card route for major airlines and hotels
Airlines like Delta and hotel chains don't take BTC directly, but you can buy a gift card with BTC on Bitrefill and use it to book on the airline's site. Same for hotel chains via Airbnb gift cards and Booking.com gift cards.
UK tip: AirBaltic flies direct from London Gatwick to Riga, and they accept Bitcoin at checkout. The cleanest "book a flight with BTC" experience in Europe.
Booking tips
- Compare the BTC price across sites — markup varies. Travala and CheapAir tend to be close to spot.
- Lightning bookings (e.g. BitPay Travel) confirm instantly.
- On-chain bookings need 1–3 confirmations. Don't leave it to the last minute before your flight.
- Check refund policy. Most processor routes offer fiat refunds, not BTC.
